I need to get back to posting on here more:
Favre: Yes, like everyone else; I'm glad it's over. The Pack could've handled it much better, but at least they were able to deal him outside of the division (and conference for that matter). If Brett would have handled it better, he'd be back at Lambeau for a Super Bowl contender instead of playing for the lowly Jets. NYJ will be better, but like Scotty said, they were 4-10 last year. I'm guessing they'll be a 7-9 team. I keep meaning to post on here so I could put up this link: http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?videoId=3518094. I want to repeat that I hate Rick Reilly (not as much as Scotty hates Paul Pierce). It's one thing to make these kinds of opinions in his dumb column on the last page of SI that no one reads, but it annoys me that ESPN gave him a whole segment on SC. I agree that Favre has been stupid, but Reilly is in no place to ridicule one of the best quarterbacks ever on national television.
Junior: I don't have much to say about this I'm with Hewlett on every aspect on the issue. I'll always be a Griffey fan. He played the right way. It's a shame that injuries limited his potential...then again the guy still hit over 600 homers. HOF lock. Hope he goes in as Red and not a Mariner.
Bron-Bron: Cavs fans, no comments on rumors that he would consider offers from Europe?! I know it's a long shot, but you never know. Stranger things have happened.
Karstens: Truly is amazing. Two starts: 0 ER, 7 hits, 16 IP. He also went 2-3 with a run scored in his near perfect outing. Hopefully for the Buckos, he's doesn't go into a Cueto-like slide. Even though they're in the Reds' division, I kinda hope they get some good luck for a change.
Cribbs: He's no Hester. He's good, but no where near his level. This is the one aspect of sports contracts that makes no sense to me. The players always act like they hold all the cards. If a player has a good year, he wants his contract negotiated to make more. If a player has a down year, the idea of renogtiating to pay them less...that's not even an option. Meh, I guess that's just the nature of the beast. Hopefully, Cribbs gets more involved in the passing game with Jurevicious out for the first 6 games.
NFL: I can't wait for football season with the Reds season in the toilet yet again. Another "Maybe next year". I refuse to watch the Browns-Jets game simply because of Scotty I's point about the Favre talk. I'd rather watch Saints-Cards and see how Brees, Bush, Colston and Shockey are looking together.

A little Favre, Mostly Other Stuff
Hewl-Town: Yeah I heard that rumor too. I think, once again, Danny Ferry went over his allotted minutes on his cell phone plan, thus he couldn't up the ante for Louis Williams. But if by some act of GOD the Cavs get JR Smith, I'd be pumped. He'd avg. 20 a game w/Bronson. But I still contend they should try and get AI. Just to have 2 guys w/Cornrows on the team who actually play would be a massive upgrade to the CAVS Street Cred
Cribbs: Yeah, sucks he wants a new contract after he just signed a new 6 yr deal LAST YEAR. I know Hester got that big contract, and Cribbs was a MAJOR part of the Browns success last year, but he's not worth what Hester got. Hester is the Bears ONLY offensive weapon, and they're trying to turn him into their #1 receiver eventually. Cribbs is a special teamer who moonlights as a #3 or #4 receiver. Not worth $4o Million.
Browns: I've never been so pumped for a freakin pre-season game in y life. I'm actually going to a Browns Backers Bar near my APT to atch the son of a bitch. Brady's playing a half, The Browns O is set for like the first time in a decade, and it'll be interesting to see the D. Also, Can we get an over/under on Favre references during the game seeing as they're playing the Jets? I'm saying at least 7 in the 1st Qtr alone.
Favre: Frankly, I'm just glad it's over. Now, at least we won't be updated daily on the regularity of Favre's bowel movements any more. I guess the Jets are a good fit, but I mean even w/Favre they may not even make the playoffs. They were 4-12 last year.
Joba: His injury is pretty devastating to the Yanks. They have little pitching depth to begin with, and apparently are kicking themselves for trading this Karstens guy for Nady and Marte.
Team USA: Not too worried about the effort against Australia. They had an off game, that's all. With LeBron, Kobe and a motivated DWade off the bench they're not losing anytime soon.
Step Brothers: Great Movie.Hilarious......John C.Reilly is amazing in it.......All I have to say is Boats and Hoes
Alright, that's all I got.........So in closing, Fuck the Bengals/Steelers.........My Better is better than your better...........And as always, I HATE PAUL PIERCE

Anything but Farve
Scotty I - I heard a sick rumor a few days ago apparently the Cavs were trying to go after restricted free agent Louis Williams, a potentially phenominal young PG (better than Boobie and Delonte combined). Too bad the corpse knows as Billy King isn't running the team anymore b/c about 15 mins after Williams talked with the Cavs the 76ers locked him up. I mean seriously. The 76ers are trading for big time players (Elton Brand) and keeping good young talent (Igudola, and Williams) what the hell is this? Are they trying to win?
Jeff Karstens - WHO? Are you kidding me? This guy is about to make people think the Pirates knew what they were doing.
The Tribe - 6 runs in the 9th inning and not getting anyone out? I think Ohio baseball may have hit it's low point this season.
PGA Championship - Wake me on Sunday if anyone interesting is winning.
Toledo - Point shaving scandel. There's not much to do during those cold nights in Northwestern Ohio so I guess cheating is as good a way to pass the time as any.
Joba - DL, yeah that starting job was a good idea after spending the entire off season working as a reliever.
Cribbs - I thought we had a guy that wasn't a bitchy winer. Apparently I was wrong. I know the man looks at Hesters contract and says "Hey what about me" but I hate this shit.

Hosk is making me ashamed to root for the same team as him.
Quote: "Another thing, why does Griffey get a pass for not being a leader? If your making that kind of money and one of the greatest of all time he should be a leader."
This is a joke right? You're trying to pull a Dunigan and say something that will intentionally make me respond. Because that is the only reason I can image you would actually think, type, then post such an absolutely moronic statement. In order to make my point in the fewest words possible I'm going to compile a quick list for you.
Superstar Highly Paid Athletes that are or were NOT Leaders:
Patrick Ewing, Barry Bonds, Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, Manny Ramierez, Alfonso Soriano, Alex Rodriguez, David Beckham, Andruw Jones, Ted Williams (read the book Teammates, he was a huge part of the team but NOT the leader), Vince Carter.
I'll stop there, this list could go on and on. Just because you're the most talented player and/or the highest paid player doesn't mean you are the leader. I didn't make excuses for Griffey, I pointed out his flaws that for some reason the Reds organization couldn't identify over the course of 9 season. Just as much as you would love to be taller Hosk, I'm sure that Griffey would like to have been a leader, it simply wasn't in him. He brought all his tools and skills with him to Cincy and when healthy put them on display, the fact that the majority of Reds fans don't recognize that makes me sick. I don't like the fact that the Reds have a been a perinnial loser the last decade but anyone that thinks that was on Griffey just isn't paying attention.
There are plenty of negatives about sports these days, especially baseball over the last few seasons. Griffey embodied none of those negative images. He was the one that played the right way, was classy, and enourmous when it came to charity work and not necessarily needing or seeking the recognition. It's not often that I feel anyones opinion can actually be wrong. But to any Reds fans that are of the opinion that Griffey Sucked, Griffey Blows, or Griffey was cause for the Reds failures the last decade are quite simply wrong.

Griffey still sucks
There is no ignorance to what I said. Griffey didn't bring in fans, like you said. Just look at the Reds attendance. The last 5 or so years the Reds didn't put a lot around Griffey, but when he got there, there was a team in place.
Another thing, why does Griffey get a pass for not being a leader? If your making that kind of money and one of the greatest of all time he should be a leader. If he was maybe the Reds would've seen the playoffs. Dunn has done more than Griffey since they've both been in Cincy. He has more walk-offs and probably more home runs and probably the same amount of gold gloves.
Quit drinking the Griffey Kool-Aid and quit making excuses, bottom line is he never gets it done, that's why he's never been to a World Series and never led the Reds anywhere.

Well Put Hewlett
I think Hewlett's response was good enough, so I will not respond to Hosk's ignorance. Well Put, Buddy!!!!!!!
On another note, Can the Cavs sign someone please? Tarence Kinsey is not the answer. He didn;t even average double figures in the euroleague!!! I mean come on, Jumaine Jones averaged 18, and 9 for Christ's sake, and he was like the 10th man on a CAVS team led by Ricky Davis. I hope they do something, and here's what I would do:
Maybe a little out there, but the Nuggets want to cut salary, right? Why not trade AV, Wally's Expiring Contract, And Delonte West for AI and some scrub off of their bench, hell I'd even take KMart's albatross of a contract. This would be an ideal situation. AI would give the CAVS a #2 scoring option, and someone else to handle the ball, and create their own shot. Also, AI isn't that bad of a defensive player, and can kinda guard PGs sometimes, but would have the luxury of having Big Ben, and Others to bail him out. Also, him and Bronson are friends. This would appease Bronto and show him Danny Ferry isn't completely Retarded.Financially it would work because AI expires after this year anyway, and KMART has like 2 yrs left, and is better than AV and Joe Smith as well. The Cavs Lineup would then look like this: Starters: AI, Sasha, LeBron, Big Big Ben, Z Bench: JJ Hickson, Kinsey, DJones, Boobie, Joe Smith, KMART or whoever they end up getting otherwise. You can't tell me that team can't contend in the East. DAMMIT DANNY!!!!!!!!
Otherwise, Go Browns..Fuck the Bengals/Steelers.......and as always, I HATE PAUL PIERCE

Final Thought on "The Kid"
I don't share the same disdain for Griffey that Hosk does, I do feel that he was well passed his prime and if we were able to pick up an immediate middle reliever that can potentially be a starter next year, plus a AAA middle infielder, especially when we have players injured left and right at SS, then I think it's a fair deal. Not great by any means, especially since I have no major knowledge of the two guys we picked up, but I didn't really expect the Reds to be able to bring back anything huge.
Griffey has been my favorite player since he was a Rook with the Mariners and I absolutely loved it when he came to Cincy. The injuries have sucked the life out of his game and that's a shame. I don't blame the losing on Griffey though. When healthy he has provided exactly what he was supposed to. Look back at the 9 plus years in Cincy. You'll see a 40 HR season, a few 30, and when he played over 100 games in a season a minimum of 20 HR. Not to mention he was on his way to another 25-30 this season. You'll also see a few 100 RBI seasons mixed in as well. I blame the losing on the organization. The organization as a whole was happy to fill the old and new ball park using Griffey's name and didn't bother to put a good enough team around him. They have had a number of talent evaluaters in Cinncinati the last few years but no one took the time to put together a team around Griffey based upon his talents as well as based upon his flaws. For all his considerable gifts as a ball player the one thing he never had to do was be a leader. He was able to coast through his amatuer career and into the majors on his talent and skills alone. He never had to develope the leadership skills necessary to be the Alpha Dog in a clubhouse. In Seatle when he was helping the Mariners to the ALCS he was a big part of that team but not the LEADER. The leaders on that team were guys like Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner, and Edgar Martinez. Veterans that could pull the clubhouse together and get everyone on the same page. The Reds never realized, that while Griffey's talents were great they didn't include the talent to inspire others. The Reds were responsible for recognizing this and should have spent the last 9.5 years building around Griffey with that in mind. They had the ultimate five tool guy in CF but they never had the intagibles guys around him to compliment him and build an actual team. That's the organizations fault, not Griffey.
It's very easy to dismiss this as me being a Griffey apologist, and to be honest I can't argue that point. I love the guy. He's the superstar that's done it right. He's the superstar that has "got it". His family is first, with the execption of his outburst towards the end of his Reds stay he always respected the fans and did right by them. Taking care of the guy that caught his 500th HR by getting him tickets to the All-Star game. Signing jerseys, balls, and hats for the guy. Being a guy that enjoyed the game for what it was, A GAME. He was simply "The Kid". That made it easy to enjoy watching him play the game because he always made you feel like he was playing because he actually loved the game, not because he was just cashing a pay check. He never made you feel like it was a business. If you can't get on board with that, and enjoy that, then maybe the senic in you has taken over. Maybe you need to go watch a little league baseball game and try and remember what it's like to have fun watching a pure game. I'm not saying that somewhere in the background that money didn't have some influence, I'm just saying that he never made you feel like it was more important than the game itself.
I will continue to cheer for "The Kid" and hope that he has a big impact with the Chi-Sox because he is one of the last reminders in baseball that this is a kids game being played by men who should feel privlaged to do so.
